CVSRT were alerted to an incident involving a mountain biker who had fallen off his bike whilst riding the downhill MTB course near Todmorden. Early indication was the rider had broken both arms in the fall and was treated accordingly.

Once on-scene, team members joined the Yorkshire Ambulance Service Rapid Response paramedic and ambulance crew to treat the casualty and bring his pain under control, before packaging him in the vacuum mattress and evacuating a short distance from the woodland location to the ambulance.

Whilst CVSRT Trainee members were training with Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team on the ramp of Mweelrea, team members were asked to assist with the recovery of a hill farmer who had fallen and sustained an unsurvivable head injury.

MRT members trekked for 75minutes to the casualty’s location before assisting with the steep ground evacuation to the Irish Coast Guard S92.

Our thoughts are with the gentleman’s family and friends at this sad time. Sincere condolences from CVSRT.

Whilst visiting Co. Mayo, Ireland for the annual Reek Sunday weekend, CVSRT Trainee members were asked to assist Mayo Mountain Rescue Team with the evacuation of a casualty by stretcher, who had collapsed on the descent of Croagh Patrick.

CVSRT called to assist West Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service with the evacuation of a vulnerable male who had been found unconscious in a remote location near Calder Clough, Bacup Road, Todmorden.

Once on-scene, team members transferred the casualty approx. 500metres by stretcher to the roadside for handover to the ambulance crew.

Three members from Oldham Mountain Rescue Team were also in the area, so kindly assisted with the evacuation.

CVSRT received a request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist with the evacuation of an injured female who had fallen whilst walking at Caley Crags near Otley, and had sustained a closed ankle fracture.

Once on-scene team members carried the casualty by stretcher for approx. 1km to the waiting ambulance for onward journey to hospital.

CVSRT received an urgent request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist with the evacuation of an injured female who had fallen 30ft over a wall.

12 members made their way to team vehicles or directly to the scene, but were stood down en-route as the YAS crew managed to evacuate the casualty without the teams assistance. CVSRT members return to base and then onward to their place of work.

CVSRT received a request from West Yorkshire Police to assist with the locating and evacuation of an injured 50yo gentleman who had slipped from the banking whilst out walking at Hardcastle Crags, and had fallen into the river sustaining a potential back injury.

21 CVSRT members made their way to team vehicles or directly to the remote location and were met on-scene by a (YAS) Rapid Response Vehicle paramedic.

The casualty was in considerable pain, so was made comfortable and immobilised in a vacuum mattress to minimise any further injury, before being stretchered for approx. 100m from the river bank, out of the steep terrain, up to Widdop Road, where he was handed over to the Yorkshire Ambulance Service for onward journey to hospital.

At 18:30, CVSRT received the second callout of the day from Yorkshire Ambulance Service for urgent assistance with the evacuation of a 17yr male who had fallen whilst rock climbing at Heptonstall Quarry and sustained head injuries.

Following assessment on-scene by Yorkshire Air Ambulance paramedics and Dr Steve Rowe (also of Edale Mountain Rescue Team), the casualty was made comfortable and then transferred to hospital by land ambulance for further treatment. 

Team stood down at 21:00 and returned to base before continuing onward to their homes or place of work.

CVSRT received a request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist with locating and evacuating an injured mountain biker, who had fallen off his ride sustaining a head injury.

As team members arrived at the location, it became apparent that the paramedic on-scene had everything under control and our services were no longer needed.  The team were subsequently stood down.

CVSRT were requested by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist with locating and evacuating an injured lady who had sustained a suspected fractured leg whilst out dog walking near Harden, Bingley.

20 team members were available to respond instantly and made their way to team vehicles or directly to the casualty site. Once on-scene, team members packaged the casualty and promptly evacuated the injured lady to the waiting ambulance.
