Later in the day (Sunday 21st May), CVSRT received a request from Calderdale Way Relay organisers to assist a runner who had sustained an ankle injury near Wainstalls Checkpoint.

Six team members attended the checkpoint to provide pain relief and transport to A&E for an x-ray. Whilst dealing with the first casualty, a second runner arrived at the checkpoint requiring medical assistance for minor cuts. Wounds were cleaned and dressed.

On Sunday (21st May), CVSRT provided safety cover for the annual Calderdale Way Relay, which is organised by Halifax Harriers AC and is generally attended by over 1000 club runners.

At 09:15, team members were called to assist a runner who had fallen and sustained a dislocated shoulder. The runner received pain relief whilst his injury was dealt with. Whilst dealing with this first incident, team members were made aware of a second incident where a runner had fallen against a barbed wire fence sustaining a minor wound to a hand.

At 11:48, CVSRT were alerted to an incident at Hardcastle Crags, Hebden Bridge, where Yorkshire Ambulance Service were requesting assistance to locate and evacuate an injured 60yo lady who had fallen and sustained a shoulder injury. 16 CVSRT members were available to respond instantly and made their way to the location either in team vehicles or directly.

Once on-scene near Gibson Mill, team members administered pain relief and when the lady was comfortable she was packaged and evacuated by stretcher to the waiting ambulance.

CVSRT received a request from Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team to assist with the search for a high risk vulnerable 52yr old male who was reported missing from his home.

21 CVSRT members were available to assist with the search and once on-scene were tasked with searching areas of interest for the misper. After 5hrs all areas were cleared and both teams stood down and returned to their respective bases.

Shortly later a member of the public located the missing person walking outside our search area. He returned home safe and well.

At 20:55, CVSRT were alerted to an incident at Chellow Dene near Bradford, where Yorkshire Ambulance Service were requesting assistance to evacuate an injured 14yo boy who had fallen in to Devils Cave sustaining a serious leg injury.

18 CVSRT members were available to respond immediately and made their way to the location either in team vehicles or directly. Once on-scene, team members rigged a rope system to lower a team member down to the casualty. He was then placed on to a stretcher and lowered to the cave floor, where the boy was then carried to the ambulance at the road.

Also on-scene assisting with the rescue were West Yorkshire Police, Yorkshire Ambulance Service Hazardous Area Response Team and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

At 23:09, CVSRT stood down and returned to base, then onward to their homes.

CVSRT received a request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist with the evacuation and unresponsive 20yo male, who was in Ovenden.

It appeared that he had fallen down a banking coming to rest on a ledge above a steep drop. As the YAS crew were on scene and began treatment, it became apparent that the male was drunk and therefore after some encouragement was able to walk out from the location.

CVSRT were stood down.

Team were stood down en-route as the misper was located.
