After nine months of hard work and numerous long sessions spent on location in and around the Calder Valley, the time has finally arrived to announce that our first ever CVSRT Calendar is due for release next week.
The theme for the calendar was inspired by the Mountain Rescue motto, “Saving lives in wild and remote places…” and thankfully not by the ‘Calendar Girls’ – so therefore, we can also confirm the Team WILL be keeping their clothes on!!
CVSRT would like to take this opportunity to thank Tony (Hanners) Hanranhan, our main photographer on this project, who volunteered his professional photography services spending many hours on location and editing. Also featured in the calendar are three photographs which are just too good to leave out. Many thanks to Hils Everitt, Joby Catto and Anne Farnell, for giving the team permission to reproduce their images.
The result is a series of 12 stunning images encapsulating Mountain Rescue around our region. From a stretcher carry on Norland Moor, casualty care amongst the bluebells at Hardcastle Crags and a search by one of our SARDA Search dogs of a snowbound vehicle, each photo shows a glimpse of CVSRT in action in various locations and scenarios.
We’ve also had an incredible response from local businesses, wishing to ‘sponsor a month’. This has meant that all proceeds from the sale of the calendar will go direct to the team. Our aim is raise £5000, which will go towards our ongoing fund to help replace one of our ageing emergency response vehicles.
CVSRT Leader, Les Wilson said, “This has been a fantastic team project and the photographs look amazing. Not only does the calendar show the team and the Calder Valley in a great way, we’ve also used each photo shoot as a training session. Looking through the calendar, it’s obvious a lot of hard work has gone into this project. I’m very proud of the team and the results they’ve achieved.”
The 2015 Calendar will be available from any team member and numerous outlets throughout the valley at the modest price of £6 (+£2 p & p – if required). We’ll keep you posted where to buy them in the coming weeks so please keep checking our social media updates.
For those wishing to grab an early Christmas present the team will have them on sale when we are at Sainsbury’s Halifax, (Wade Street) on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September as part of the fundraising ‘Big Bike Ride’ Challenge.
Many thanks in advance for helping us to help you
