Application Form:

We are now actively recruiting for Operational Full Team Members. If you would like to be consider within this recruitment phase please complete an application form, which can be here.

Currently there isn’t a deadline for submitting applications, however we anticipate selecting the best candidates to commence training in early in the New Year.

The Rescue Post Open Day

Attending our base on a team night to meet with other team members, supporters and the training officer/team leader will give you opportunity to gain a greater understanding of what being a team member involves. It’s also a chance for you and for us to meet in person. Suitable candidates are then asked to attend the hill assessment.

Hill Assessment

We are looking to see how you work as part of a team, your navigation ability, hill skills and your level of fitness. The best all-round candidates at this stage are then invited to join the team as trainee members. Training is then split into two phases with the onus on the trainee to work through the skills required.

Trainee Phase (6+ months)

Modular training programme covering the basic mountain rescue skills required.

Probationer Phase (9+ months)

After successful completion of the trainee phase, candidates will go on the active callout list and continue on a modular training programme leading towards a final hill assessment.

Final Hill Assessment

At the end of the training program, candidates will have to complete a gruelling 24hr hill assessment which will test their newly acquired rescue skills before they are recommended for full team membership. A write-up of last years assessment can be here.

Active Supporter Process

Do you fancy taking your support of the team to the next level? As an Active Supporter you will be invited to get more hands on and assist with Team training as a casualty or dogsbody for our search dogs training.
