CVSRT - July 2022

Moderna Mot

#Thank you Moderna Mot
A huge thank you to Moderna Mot's who recently completed the MOT on two of Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team (CVSRT) vehicles.
Not only did Moderna Mot’s complete the work for free, they were really flexible with working on the vehicles as we took them away during the test to attend a callout.
To allow us to transport team members and all required kit when called to assist the emergency services it is essential we maintain safe and roadworthy vehicles and the support given by Moderna is such a great help.
#Probie Assessment
Over Friday the 8th and Saturday 9th July 2022, and the culmination of 12 months of training the current batch of Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team (CVSRT) trainees took on their final assessment.
The 18-hour assessment involved killer wasps, stampeding cattle, helicopters, and a great effort by the trainees bringing together all of their learning to tackle 4 scenarios that simulate real life examples of incidents that CVSRT attend.
All the trainees did brilliantly and all that is left is the formality of a team vote, during our next business meeting in 2 week’s time, to officially welcome them as Operational Team Members .
Additionally, as we had the HM Coastguard Rescue 912 helicopter supporting the final scenario, we took the opportunity for Mountain Rescue Search Dog England and Wales (MRSDE) trainee search dog Holly, with handler Al, to gain valuable experience of being around the helicopter during landing and take-off.
With everything we do, this assessment would not be successful without the help of lots of people;
Thank you to the team members who assisted in running the scenarios, the casualties for willingly putting themselves in awkward positions, our supporters for setting up a camp site and providing food for the trainees, the landowners for allowing us access and to the Coastguard for utilising their training time to come and an assist with the final scenario.
Congratulations to John, Stuart and Rob, welcome to the team and we will see you out on the hill.
