At 14:46 on Thursday 8th June 2023 Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team (CVSRT) received a request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist with the search for a pilot of a paraglider reported to have come to land in the Walshaw area.

CVSRT conducted a coordinated search with the emergency services. Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA), National Police Air Service (NPAS) and West Yorkshire Police (WYP) searched open areas using their air assets.  CVSRT teams focussed on searching several wooded areas on foot and drivable tracks using our off-road vehicles.

Following a thorough search of the agreed areas, with no person or equipment found, the team were stood down.

This was a genuine call by concerned members of public and fortunately it appears no one was injured.

#Volunteersweek

The 1st to the 7th of June is volunteers’ week, an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering.

Everyone at Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team (CVSRT) commits to hundreds of hours of volunteer time per year for the team, however, we are so much more than the members you see out on the hills.

We have several supporters who regularly give up their time to support training and fundraising events, are often lay hiding in the cold wet moors acting as a training casualty and working behind the scenes to enable the team to be ready to respond when called upon.

We could not continue to operate without the fantastic support we are fortunate to receive and we thank everyone who has helped us over the years, it really does mean a lot to the team.
