Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team (CVSRT) enjoyed a busy Jubilee weekend as we joined in with celebrations happening across the Calder Valley.

On Thursday 2nd June, Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team (CVSRT) held a low key event to present eligible members of the team the Platinum Jubilee Medal in celebration of Her Majesty the Queen's 70 year reign.

As part of the celebrations we joined over 1700 Mountain Rescue volunteers who are honoured to be recognised and included among the frontline emergency, armed forces and prison service workers across the UK. 

Congratulations to Her Majesty from everyone involved in Mountain Rescue on an unprecedented 70 years of service.

Following on from the Medal Presentation and to coincide with the Jubilee Beacons lit across the country, CVSRT decided to "Light up the Pike".  Due to the fragile nature of the moorland environment, a real "fire" beacon was out of the question (#bemooraware), so with some ingenuity and a significant amount of teamwork, CVSRT carried in temporary lighting to turn Stoodley Pike into its own Jubilee Beacon.  The pike was lit Red, White and Blue in a nod to our own colours but also to commemorate the Jubilee celebrations.  We hope you managed to catch a glimpse of the Pike in all its glory.

Light up the Pike was a huge team effort, but in this case it involved the local community as well.  Thank You to Anne for assistance with moving equipment, to Michael and James for capturing the event in pictures and video and to TFG Stage Technology for supplying some of the equipment used.

On Friday 3rd June Calder Valley Search & Rescue Team (CVSRT) joined teams from West Yorkshire Police, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Smartmove and Calderdale LRF at the Piece Hall, Halifax as part of their Jubilee Weekend, to celebrate our emergency services.

It was an excellent event and was lovely to say hello and chat to so many. Thank you to everyone who donated to CVSRT throughout the day.
