CVSRT Steve Westwood completes SPINE Mountain Rescue Challenge 2016
That's one happy and relieved chap. CVSRT Steve Westwood, presented with his Spine Mountain Rescue Challenge 2016 finishers t-shirt.
Thank you to everyone who has supported our four runners this weekend at home, on social media or meeting them along the way at checkpoints or road crossing to top up with water, jelly babies or moral support. It's been an incredible challenge with brutal weather, unforgiving conditions and sleep deprivation.
There is obvious disappointment for Alistair, Howard and Tim who unfortunately had to retire at Checkpoint 1 (50 miles) due to injury, and jubilation for Steve who managed to complete the 108miles to the finish line in Hawes.
We've raised an incredible £1375 (£1655 with Gift Aid) from this weekend. The fundraising page will remain open until the end of January, so if you'd like to support the runners, you still can.
All funds raised will go directly to providing CVSRT with Water Rescue Kit and Training for members to assist the community in the event of future flooding and swift water rescue.
Many thanks for your continued support. CVSRT
