Wild Weather

The weather over the last 24 hours has been pretty wild, particularity on higher ground and more exposed areas.

Working with West Yorkshire Police (WYP) and Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS), Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team (CVSRT) provided additional rescue cover from Thursday afternoon, through the night and into early Friday afternoon.

The majority of our support was helping stranded motorists by digging out their vehicles, or if the vehicle was completely stuck transporting them to safety.

Over the period CVSRT helped 15 stranded motorists.

The team also spent some time helping out our friends Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team (HVMRT) who had a similar volume of people to help.

Although the night shift only managed 10 minutes of sleep it was really pleasing to be able to be able to get all casualties to safety.
