Basically speaking, we cover West Yorkshire to the north of the M62 /M621. We cover the Airedale & North Bradford, Bradford South & North West Leeds police divisions. We work closely with the Police and Ambulance Service to locate, treat and recover lost or injured people from the South Pennine moors around Calderdale, Keighley, Baildon and Ilkley.

In recent years we have increasingly been called upon to conduct searches for vulnerable missing people in urban areas of Leeds, Bradford, Halifax and Keighley.

We also respond to requests for assistance from other teams and over the past few years have helped out with emergencies in South Yorkshire, Peak District, Lake District, North Wales and Ireland.

CVSRT operates under the control of West Yorkshire Police. We respond to requests for assistance from all the statutory emergency service. Our specialist skills and local knowledge provides an essential, life-saving asset to the other services, therefore the team works very closely with:

• YAS Hazardous Area Response Team (HART)
• West Yorkshire Fire Service (WYFS)
• National Police Air Service (NPAS)

We attend numerous community events and local fundraisers throughout the year.

These range from providing:

• Safety cover for outdoor activities and challenges (ie. Fell / MTB Races etc)
• Raising community awareness for outdoor safety
• Talks, presentations and base visits (Schools, community groups, scouts, cubs etc)
• Debris and litter clean up on steep ground and waterways.
