Contribute your professional trade or business skill

Hopefully you are aware now that all members of CVSRT are all 100% unpaid volunteers, who give their spare time freely. Members come from all walks of life, professions and backgrounds, all bringing something different to the mix to build a stronger team. The same can be said for the community around us.

Perhaps you have a particular skill or professional trade that you think would benefit the team. If so, please drop us a line to discuss what you have in mind.

Donate your company service or product

Keeping the team operational costs approximately £35,000 per year and this covers everything from keeping the roof over our head, to the diesel in our vehicles, to medical training course to the coffee in our cups. All cost money and all are essential to help us to continue to provide the essential life-saving service.

If you have a particular service or product, be it; help with building or vehicles maintenance, or donating non-perishable supplies that will help fuel the team, then please contact us.

Become a 'dogsbody' or 'training casualty'

Dogsbodies and training casualties play an integral part of the teams continued training programme and development as a search and rescue resource - no matter what the weather conditions are or the seasons is. We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist with our training exercises to make them as life-like as possible.

If you are over 18 years old and would like to volunteer, please contact us to find out when our next training session is or ask to be added to our training casualty list.

Help us to fundraise at a community event

CVSRT attends a great number of local fundraising events to help raise funds towards the teams running costs. These events include open days, galas, festivals, street collections and most recently the Tour de France and Tour de Yorkshire.

If you are over 18 years old and could spare a few hours to help out at one of these events, please see when our next public event is or drop us a line.

Do a sponsored challenge or hold a charity event

Do you fancy doing a sponsored challenge or wish to hold a charity event to help raise funds for the team? Please tell us about your idea and we will help to promote your challenge or event on social media or in the press. We use a fundraising website called wonderful.org (https://wonderful.org/charity/caldervalleysearchandrescueteam) which allows you to create your own fundraising page and you can nominate CVSRT as your chosen charity - which makes collecting sponsorship money so much easier!

Wish List Appeal

We are often asked if there’s a specific piece of equipment or a team resource that requires direct funding. For example, following the 2012 floods in the Calder Valley, the team received direct funding specifically to equip the team with relevant safety equipment and to train Swiftwater & Flood Water Rescue Technicians to deploy in the event of a similar disaster.

Thankfully incidents like that are few and far between, however there are other areas that would benefit from funding to allow us to maintain an effective search and rescue resource to support the statutory emergency services.

Here is a few items on our current wish list. If you would like to help fund any of these items, please contact us directly. Thank you.

Donation

Basically, it costs £35,000 a year to keep the team operational, all of which is raised through donations. We receive no direct government funding.

All donations go directly towards our running costs and purchasing essential life-saving equipment and maintaining our vehicles, base and training team members new skills.
