We’ve been contacted by one of our followers, Col, who is about to set off on an incredible three‑week solo, unsupported mountain bike expedition in Nepal. Through this challenge, he’s aiming to raise £2,500 for Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team.
If you’d like to support Col, please read his message below.
We wish him the very best of luck and a safe journey.
…
This Saturday (18 April) I’m heading off on a 3‑week solo mountain bike expedition in Nepal.
I’ll be travelling from Manchester to Kathmandu, then on to Pokhara, where I’ll begin riding the famous Annapurna Circuit.
Trip highlights include:
Riding up to Manang (3,519m) to acclimatise
Hiking to Tilicho Lake (4,919m) (leaving the bike behind)
Carrying my bike over Thorong La Pass (5,416m) — the toughest part of the journey
Several days of technical descents back to Pokhara
Around 80% of the trip will be spent riding, with the rest pushing or carrying a 30kg bike and pack, in temperatures as low as ‑20°C.
The expedition is completely solo and unsupported, but I’ll be staying in teahouses along the route.
I’m raising money for Calder Valley Search and Rescue, and as the trip is self‑funded, 100% of donations go directly to the charity.
