

Over the past 12 days, Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team (CVSRT) has responded to five requests for assistance.
Stanbury Moor, 22/02/2026, 12:30
CVSRT were called by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist a walker who had slipped and fallen on Stanbury Moor, sustaining an arm injury. Team members located the casualty, administered first aid, and helped the individual into a warming casualty bag. The walker was then carried by stretcher to a waiting ambulance for further care.

Stoodley Pike, 18/02/2026, 16:11
CVSRT received a call for assistance with a casualty who was very cold and unable to walk. Upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that the individual had set out for a brief walk late the previous day and subsequently became lost. Further enquiries with the Police confirmed that the casualty had been reported missing. The casualty was rewarmed and packaged onto the stretcher for extraction to a waiting ambulance.

CVSRT received a request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist with an unconscious casualty situated near East Keswick. Helimed and two ambulances were already enroute to the location. The casualty was reported to be positioned down a track, and it was anticipated that CVSRT might be required to assist with the extraction. However, the team was stood down before reaching the location.

CVSRT was requested by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to provide support for a patient experiencing a cardiac arrest on the Moors. As the team was making its way to the location, notification was received that North West Helimed and YAS were already present at the scene. Subsequently, CVSRT was stood down.

CVSRT was contacted by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) with a request to assist two individuals who had become crag-fast. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. At 16:27, the Police notified the team that the individuals who had been stuck at the crag had managed to return home safely. As a result, the team was stood down and their assistance was no longer required.
