Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team were called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) for assistance with a casualty who had been trodden on by the horse they were leading on Norland Moor.
The initial call was made by a member of the public who was with the casualty at the scene. During the call, the caller advised YAS that Mountain Rescue assistance was likely to be required immediately due to the casualty’s location and the significant distance from the nearest road access point.
On arrival at the scene, the casualty was found to have sustained an injury to the lower right leg. The casualty’s leg was immobilised before they were packaged onto the stretcher for transportation off the Moor, to the waiting ambulance.
