Callout Catch up

CVSRT received a request from West Yorkshire Police (WYP) for assistance with the extraction of a walker who had slipped while walking on the Pennine Way and sustained an ankle injury. The walker was unable to continue walking and rang 999 for assistance.

Due to the proximity of the incident to the edge of our operational area and the casualty’s unclear location Oldham Mountain Rescue Team (OMRT) was also tasked. CVSRT deployed from the White House to the north of the casualty’s location, while OMRT deployed six team members on foot from Windy Hill to the south.

The casualty’s ankle was immobilised using a vacuum splint, before they were placed into a warm winter casualty bag. They were then stretchered off the hillside and transferred to a waiting ambulance for onward transport to hospital.

Thank you to OMRT it is always good to work with other teams on the hill.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) requested the assistance of CVSRT to locate and evacuate a casualty who had fallen in North Dean Wood.

Brookfoot, 06/03/2026, 16:57

CVSRT were called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist with a person who had fallen at Brookfoot and sustained a leg injury. Due to the location, the team set up a rope system to lower a stretcher and safely extract the casualty. The casualty was then transferred to a waiting ambulance for onward care.
