Between 17 and 26 July, Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team responded to five incidents. The callouts reflect the variety of work undertaken by the team, including search operations, casualty evacuations, and support to partner emergency services across the region.

Baildon – 17/07/26, 22:20
Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team was requested by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist with reports of three people stranded on a rock face in the Baildon area. The incident prompted a multi-agency response involving Yorkshire Ambulance Service, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, and the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).
As team members arrived on scene, it was established that sufficient specialist resources were already in place to manage the incident safely and effectively. CVSRT was therefore stood down without further involvement. Although ultimately not required, the team’s rapid deployment ensured that additional support was available should the situation have escalated.

Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team was called by West Yorkshire Police to assist in the search for a missing person in the West Vale area.

Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team responded to an incident in the Featherstone area alongside colleagues from Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team (HVMRT).

Holywell Green – 24/07/26, 23:55
Late on Friday evening, Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team was requested by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist with a casualty who had become unconscious in a remote rural location with challenging access in the dark.
Working alongside ambulance crews, team members reached the casualty and assisted in providing a safe evacuation route from the location. The casualty was then transferred into the care of the ambulance service for onward treatment.
Incidents such as these highlight the important role played by volunteer rescue teams in supporting statutory services when specialist access and evacuation skills are required.

Stoodley Pike – 26/07/26, 21:43
Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team was alerted to concerns for a walker near Stoodley Pike who was believed to have sustained an injury.
An advance party was deployed to quickly locate the individual and assess the situation. Once found, it became apparent that the walker had suffered a lower leg injury and would be unable to continue unaided. A full team callout was subsequently initiated, with additional personnel responding to support the evacuation.
The casualty was carefully packaged onto a stretcher and transported from the hillside before being handed over to Yorkshire Ambulance Service for further assessment and treatment.
